Extending Existing Logical Volumes

We deploy the real environment, you take the scenario-based labs on us. Hands-on, from anywhere, at any time.

Time required: 2 Hours

Extend a logical volume using additional drive space from physical disks.

In this lab, we are going to learn how to extend logical volumes. We will be using physical disks, moving physical extents from one physical disk to another, changing the size of volume groups and increasing the size of logical volumes.

One of the systems in your environment has had additional storage space provisioned for its use. As a result, you will need to extend the existing filesystem's Logical Volume to use it.

Log into the system and identify the existing Logical Volume. Determine the space provisioned on the new disk and then add that new space to the appropriate Volume Group. Once the Volume Group shows the new space, configure the Logical Volume to use the additional space and then resize the volume so the space is live. Verify the new space is being reported properly to complete your work.
