Hi Iam unable to switch to root user using
Getting below error
su: Authentication failurecan any one help.
Use SUDO not su - su - prompts for the root password, which you don't have. sudo prompts for the users password and checks the sudoers file.
su:Authentication Failure means the password you are entering for the root user is incorrect.
But do try just sudo and use the user password to see if it works.
Just wanted to check. Was this solved and are you able to move on?
Thanks Ermin I had tried sudo su - and sudo su --login root with these 2 commands i can switch to root, here its not asking any credentials its swittching directly.
Correct, the root password is not set on that. You can set it if you want but it is bad practice. It is better practice to use sudo -i
