ENA vs Placement Group

I've carried out an experiment comparing Enhanced Networking with a Placement Group, using t3.nano instances (as t3 is ENA enabled).

I've found that Placement Group performance was faster when setting up an iperf server and a client and also when I simply pinged one instance by the other.

I haven't done Regional comparisons yet, my guess is that I should see even lower bandwidth than in previous exercises.

Have to say that while the above makes perfect sense (since instances in a Placement Group must be in the same Availability Zone), I didn't expect such marked differences compared to ENA.

Anyone tried something similar?

I have not tried a similar setup yet, maybe I should!

I find it a good way to see concepts we learn about in practice. I was surprised by the difference in throughput.
